Haven’t seen a lot of talk about URLCheck.

It can clear useless URL parameters, unshorten shortened links, scan links with VirusTotal (API key required) or redirect you to privacy friendly websites like Nitter or Libreddit.

If you are interested checking it out, check out my guide I made on it too!

PS. I’m not affiliated with the dev/app in any way. Just wanted to share this useful app that no one has been talking about.

Looks interesting! I was waiting for FastForward to hit the Mozilla addon store again to add it to my collection but this looks like a good alternative. Thanks for sharing!

Also for those who are interested there is a very useful option to open links in incognito mode!

Theres also something called URL cleaner. It just literally cleans the URL AFAIK (no virus total or anything). Ita available on f-droid and presumably the play store.

I’d love to have some URL cleaning and redirection options, but I can’t seem to get this one to work. Maybe it’s something with my configuration, but I can’t seem to trigger the app.

Would be nice if it appeared in the share menu, or even if I could open the app and paste in the link for edits

URLCheck is in the share menu for me, right beside my lemmy app lol. I can open the app and use the “test link” to paste a link in for editing too.

Not sure if you somehow got an older version, or maybe a different app?

I use this, extremely handy app for inspecting links. It also warns you if the link contains unnecessary unicode chars, preventing the potential file extension issue with dot zip domains.

Easy to edit the config for the modules too - I added an additional filter to proxy Imgur images (via rewriting the url), as that site is partially blocked on my network
