Honestly a bot moderator is just open source enshittification of the fediverse if you did it like this. Bots have no nuance, do not understand context and are generally unable to apply reason to a situation.
The most egregious suggestion is user name based bans, this is 100% going to remove a bunch of users without real cause. Or having automod comment the same irrelevant headline on every single post is just causing spam and kills the comment count function.
In my opinion the bots should do all the tediousness for the moderators, and there may even be scenarios where a bot content filter could be invaluable, but in general any tool you put out there will also be used to its fullest extent by at least one person.
Like cops with too many powers, eventually they abuse it for everything.
Half the features are helpful and the others are obnoxious or useless reddit vestiges. Auto banning users, locking communities, deleting posts is all rather harmful and not conducive to interesting discussion and posts. Welcome messages and auto mod comments on every post are also plain terrible.
Make a slim bot with moderation tools that helps mods and admins to do their tasks more efficiently and comfortably, but dont offload the mod role itself to the bot. That is one of the worst parts if reddit.
The bot isn’t for your convenience but the moderators, obviously.
Is that a recent change? I somewhat distinctly remember being offered Fdroid during the initial setup as well.
Is it really endorsement to offer the user upon initial setup to install it, along with fdroid?
I’d say that’s just general compatibility, most users have at least one play store app they can’t just stop using, in my case that would be the banking apps I need to be able to pay online.

This is the publishing house in question. It has a decidedly conservative bias and has often been considered a sort of shadow power behind the throne with its immense reach and influence; able to significantly affect the political discourse and public opinion. You could probably compare them to the Murdoch / fox news empire in many ways.
Not a PR issue, a coordinated media bias issue. A great number of german media is owned in one way or another by the Springer company, and as such a small group of very rich kingmakers. The current government isnt conservative so they get the most hostile coverage imaginable, on purpose.
Purged of unwanted and intrusive features, UBO pre installed, and is pre configured for increased privacy.

The point was that some sites neglect to develop for Firefox, and simply tell Firefox users to get chrome instead. Meanwhile Firefox works in most cases perfectly fine without any doing on the website’s part if it is simply duped into believing that the firefox user is just a plain old chrome user as expected. Doesn’t work for everything, but almost.
I read that most sites work just fine if you spoof your user agent to windows and standard chrome
SCeNic Route? 👀
I certainly dont blame them, I just made the switch from windows myself a few months ago and have been amazed by my problem free experience.
Perhaps it isnt as effortless for everyone depending on the hardware, I have to concede, but my experience has been nothing but brilliant. My biggest gripe so far has been that the open source rgb controller needs to be set manually for my keyboard (which isnt much of a gripe really).
Let me preach you the gospel of
A user friendly, steam OS like distro specifically made for gaming. About as difficult to set up as a new smartphone, and comes with all the goods needed for gaming preinstalled, like steam, wine (lutris), and various other compatibility features.
It is also an immutable distro, which essentially means you can’t break your system*. If you mess something up you can simply roll back to an earlier configuration.
*you certainly still can, but you would have to actively try
Seems to be chugging along just fine, they really made a gold standard game. They are even smart enough to dip into the nostalgia crowd who liked the older versions better with the classic servers. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if it were still an actively developed game in 10 years
I suspect if they let steam do it there is nothing stopping steam from running it on Linux as well, provided the usual compatibility features such as proton wouldnt be deliberately incapacitated by Microsoft; which in turn would piss off valve a lot because of the steam deck and OS.
They invested heavily in their Linux fork and compatibility suite, if windows store were to fuck with that I suspect they would be on the losing end. Steam users are very loyal to the company and by default extremely hostile to proprietary fuckery.
I had the same issue when initially coming to Lemmy, and made several accounts before I got so annoyed I did the research and chose an instance specifically for its federation/defederation policies; which led me to where I am now.
Lemmy.zip has defederated only illegal content such as csam and gore, as well as meta because fuck corporate.
I just generally dislike the idea of an arbitrary censorship list being applied to my content feed, I can choose and block myself.
First thing NK does i can get behind
