1·15 hours agoI considered pCloud they have better paid offers and very attractive lifetime one time payment plans.
But they have their own client software and experience tells that this will cause trouble at some point.
TabD 8Gb is free like free. The only thing it misses is the data encryption at rest. A replacement for that would be Cryptomator.
Free tier seems to work pretty well.
They stop servers from time to time for maintenance and upgrades, it is a good sign.
(Plus Cryptomator when needed)

4·1 day agoFor a single user instance (or friends - family) pretty much anything will do.
Consider also ease of administration, upgrade smoothness. It vary quite a lot depending on the stack and maturity of instances flavors.

It’s sad because at some point, when mainstream browsers will actually rely on systemd for that, website will block you.

You have many options to choose from…
- rsync over ssh+key, maybe pull from the central backup host is better
- Borgbackup, restic and alike, so push
- Syncthing, push or pull I can’t say for sure

And the fact all alternatives must have federated signon and repos. Otherwise it’s just annoyance and fragmentation where GitHub provides a smooth, unified experience.

Well, I looked at it a little bit closer : on desktop with chrome’s devtools, you can reproduce the issue if you select the mobile view and iphone 14 pro max emulation.
