I fail to see how sharing a news article about someone (supposedly) voted into political office threatening to use nuclear weapon on another democratic sovereign nation implies “we” (whatever the heck that even mean) hate the people of the country.

There’s sharing a news article and then there’s mass posting the same type of news to 40 different places that’s conveniently all is about the same thing.

I wasn’t born yesterday, I’m well aware racism against Indians is acceptable here just as it was on reddit

Bro I’m Indian and I FUCKING hate that country. If you resort to whataboutisms as a defense of the horrible shit that happens there then you’re part of the problem.

My wife and her family are all from India and she always says she doesn’t want to talk politics. My first time arguing politics with her family, they all started aggressively shouting, with her uncle even shoving me a little as they raised points that made absolutely no sense and my counterpoints were met with thinly-veiled threats. Finally, I was told that I don’t know how anything works because I only knew what I heard on mainstream media, but they knew the truth because they “know these things.” The only things I learned that day were:

        1. Never argue politics with anyone who supports Modi
        2. My wife is always right

ETA: When I asked if they were threatening me, they’d say no and that I don’t know how to argue politics. I’m guessing this person threatening to nuke Canada in the same way you’ll hear people say “I’ll give you such a slap.”

Second point should have been evident even before embarking on the argument

At that point in my life, I’d noticed a pattern, but had not yet realized I’d bumped up against a law.

Yeah. India needed to be called out on that. I’m wondering if there’s going to be heated altercations between Canadian Sikhs and Indians.
