So, I guess I should give some backstory. Yesterday I received my first every sex toys, which I very much enjoyed using. I didn’t do a lot of research on them, as I didn’t think it was really necessary. Since I bought it from a very popular and well-known site in the Netherlands, which I might have come to regret. After getting more curious about the sex toys, I bought. I started to google and found out not all materials are safe to use (shocker) so far I’ve come to understand – and I apologize if I’m wrong, but that’s why I’m posting this. That everything non-porous like titanium, stainless steel, glass, and pure silicon are the only safe materials for use in sex toys.
The first thing I looked up after was which material the toys I bought were made of. Luckily, one is made from stainless steel, so I guess I’m good with that one, but the dildo I bought is made of PVC, which I understand isn’t great. To my surprise, almost all toys sold on that site are made from PVC, which made me confused…
Basically, what I’m trying to ask (and I did my best googling this but all I was really able to find is what I said above) is: How safe is it for me to use my dildo, and if it is not safe, is it ok if I would buy some cheap condoms and put them over it before use? I wouldn’t trust cheap condoms with sex, but since it wouldn’t be a big deal if they broke, I guess it would be ok to go for cheaper one’s?
FYI, I hope the title was clear enough no Idea what I should have titled it :P
A cheap condom on a toy is usually a safe bet (sans material allergies) and a clean-up help. Unfortunately a bit wasteful, but not if health is on the line.
My searching with Qwant lead to rather negative results:
Howewer I can’t vouch for the sites, only on general of phalates toxicity, problems with porousness and hygiene, and problems with cheap materials.
So either go with a condom, or accept you have a conversation starter to display ;)
Thank you so much! I guess I’ll just look for some cheap condoms to buy and look for a new one when I get the chance. I’m definitely staying away from that site… I’d rather go to a sex shop when I get the chance, and pick something up which I’m certain will be safe!
Really sucks there aren’t any regulations regarding this – you’d think buying something from a well-known site would be at least nontoxic – Oh, well…
