Every instance has their own servers, right now lemmy.world is super slow, earlier they disabled comments to mitigate an attack. Sync relies on your instance being reachable to work.

Well, don’t use the word if you don’t know what it means. Sure, ads by its nature are not ads. But ads that track you are spyware.
Google Play Services are a spyware, they track so many things about you.
