That’s exactly the issue here. ChatGPT’s current training set ends right around the time the Meta Quest 3 came out. It’s not going to have any discussions in there of No Man’s Sky with tech that wasn’t out yet.

I haven’t seen a lot of chatter around live-service games in Patient Gamers communities in general over the years, but from what I can tell, very little of the Warcraft community made it over to Lemmy. I can think of a couple possible explanations for that.
First, because everyone uses Discord for voice chat over WoW anyway, with the Reddit exodus last year, Discord was always a more natural fit for discussion. Second, /r/wow has increasingly become a place for discussion around the game among former players, especially after Shadowlands. Seeking out a new space on Lemmy and actually participating in the necessary, proactive contributions to grow a community requires more enthusiasm than I think the jaded players have.
It certainly feels like there are fewer MMO players, but I’m not sure. I think we can be certain that younger players are being captured by different forms of live-service games though (shooters, various gacha) rather than traditional MMOs.
Newell also has overseen Valve as one of the pioneers of the most predatory monetization in the video game industry (lootboxes, etc.).
There are no saints at this level.
And I’d like to block users with consistent negative behaviours.
This is where I’m at it with it. Votes are already public to those who really want to see them and that cat’s not going back in the bag. Anyone that goes out of their way to inject it into the conversation is showing their ass and adding a (likely extra) level of toxicity that blocking would fix.
In the short term? Possibly.
In the long term, it opens up space for competition, which is better for end users, advertisers, small business, and more.

Just spinning off Android would shake up map software. It’s how they get traffic and other data.
Disco Elysium isn’t part of a series (and probably won’t ever be, super disappointing news there). Going in blind for that one is a good idea.
I don’t use the subscription services much but I did try a month of Xbox Game Pass a few months ago. Ended up being disappointed by Persona 5 Tactica and a little bit surprised by Dune: Spice Wars. The plot pacing felt undercooked in P5T and Spice Wars reminded me of a bit of the early 2000’s vibe for Dune games, probably a plus for some people. Ultimately it didn’t keep me interested for more than a few hours (4X games have a very high bar to clear for me). Also tried Hi-Fi Rush, but didn’t stick with it long even though it felt like a solid product.
Didn’t continue Game Pass because I’m kind of a mercurial player, bouncing from game to game. What I end up sticking with depends a lot on vibes and mood. The service wasn’t the best fit for me.
I was never much of an /r/all user, it’s always been niche communities for me. I feel like almost all of my niches have content here now (if not quite as much engagement as I’d like). [email protected] in particular has exploded with activity lately and arguably can now serve as a full replacement for its subreddit counterpart.
Thing is, when I try to bring people on Lemmy, it’s always “why?” and if I make it that far, “how?” With the how, I’ve been using the analogy of signing up for email, though it’s still not as smooth as it could be. Eyes glaze over when anyone starts asking me about how the Fediverse in general works.
The why is harder. I don’t know how much user bleed-over niche Reddit got from /r/all users but I’m guessing it wasn’t a trivial amount. I’m sure a lot of Reddit’s growth was owed to AMAs, so it’s possible Lemmy might need something flashy to draw in users who will then filter into communities waiting for them. Some sort of content unique to the platform. I do think before we get there we need a friendlier way to help new people find communities they may have interest in.
I’m out of the loop, what are the highly requested features?
Civ5 has been my favorite in the series. They did a great job with the AI on that one, and it gave the game so much replay value for me.
A lot of great options named in the thread but I’ll also add Slice and Dice and Crypt of the NecroDancer. Seconding FTL too, that was one of my top games of the 2010’s.
I also recommend Cobalt Core, which is not quite patient as a past November release. Great for FTL fans or anyone that likes tactical card battlers.
I hadn’t heard about the charm mods, thanks. Wayward Compass being permanently free by default should have been a thing. If it weren’t for the awful map system, I would have felt Hollow Knight was a flawless game.
This game has lived rent-free in my brain ever since playing it. Not always in a good way either, it’s some genuine existential horror.
The ethical explorations are interesting too, such as the implications of repeatedly booting up a personality to extract information from it.
I was enthralled by almost every part of my Disco Elysium experience, but it was the main character’s past trauma that sticks with me. The phone call, the nap dream–both hit me hard. I’m also gutted that we’re probably never going to see another game set in that world again. The global setting concept of Elysium is a stroke of genius as far as I’m concerned.
Hades 2 is excellent so far, by the by.
Subscribed to Imaginary Witches, thanks!
Crossposting from popular posts is also a good way to promote your smaller communities!
What I’ve been running into is that even if it’s the same link, if you change the body text it won’t list the crossposting.
I’ve been most invested into helping [email protected] get going. It seems like there are plenty of lurkers and a growing amount of engagement by comments, but people are still shy about posting links or discussions. News in the genre has been slow the past couple months, though.
I tried with [email protected]. As a general rule, I’ll prioritize posting content to smaller instances, and I picked out that community on my home instance to do so, but I think it’s just not happening. I’m moving over to [email protected].
I’m also glad [email protected] is doing well. Seems like they’ve got a good plan going on over there, with relevant stickies, a useful sidebar, and link exchange.
Definitely one of the most somber games I’ve ever played. Agreed on the music; I’m generally not big on Motoi Sakuraba, but I think this is one of his best soundtracks. The overworld is a vibe, and the theme is a big part of why.
The undub is worth looking into unless one’s really opposed to Japanese audio. Fifth-generation localized games were notorious for poor English voice direction and this game is no exception. Even the voice track quality isn’t as good as the original.
