I’m back on my bullshit.

what do you mean by private communities?
I still appreciate Lemmy more. It’s more intimate and people are way more respectful. Also, Reddit is full of shit comments. Lemmy comments aren’t perfect or amazing, but I visited Reddit this week looking for memes (agree with your point on quantity of memes) and perused the comments. I forgot how stupid and formulaic Reddit can be. I’m really happy that didn’t transfer over to Lemmy.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining. What’s the relevant story with JK Rowling?
Honest question: Why does it matter if he’s a transphobe when choosing which Fediverse software to use? The software is FOSS and anyone can make their own instance. I don’t understand why his social views outside of sharing the software and protecting it from becoming proprietary matters when deciding what Fediverse software to use.
I’m not arguing my stance. I really want to understand what I might be missing.

The car uses a supercharged 5.0 liter Dual OverHead Camshaft 8-cylinder engine running on 93 Octane.
Which one has more power, oorrgh??
1 upvote = more power, Al
1 downvote = more I don’t think so, Tim
I admire their boundaries and steadfastness
I understand trilateration, but what’s “oracle trilateration”? How did these dating apps share the proximity distance of a user and to what precision? Like if it said the user is 5km away, that is still going to give a pretty big area if someone were to trilateral it because the line of the circle would have to include 4.5-5.5km away. Do that three times, and we’d get an area of about a square km. To get it down to 2m, the app would have to be precise to the meter, such as “user is 5,000m away”.
I just ran a test on my stock Pixel 8 Pro connected via Proton VPN:
I opened Firefox and searched DuckDuckGo for “pool heater”.
I scrolled down until I saw an Amazon link, then closed the tab and Firefox.
I opened the Amazon app. I scrolled through the “deals” on the app’s home page and did not see anything pool related at all.
I typed “pool” into the search slowly, to see if and when “pool heater” was suggested as a search. I typed in “pool” entirely, yet “pool heater” was never suggested.
I don’t know what that implies, but it seems like if I am using Firefox, DDG, and Proton VPN, Amazon isn’t monitoring my Internet searches.
No idea. I’ve never been in that situation. It’s like asking, “What if you played hockey without checking?” It would virtually be a different sport.
I played water polo in high school during the swimming off season. Water polo is one of the most intense sports I know of. It’s like the intensity and aggression of hockey but while swimming. To give perspective by placing modesty aside for a moment, I was a very good swimmer and captain of the swim team. When I went to swim meets (competitions), many other swimmers in my district knew me and were upset they were going to lose. If my grades weren’t terrible, I could’ve easily gotten a full scholarship for swimming.
Still, when I played water polo, I was TERRIBLE. There is so much nasty aggression that happens underwater. Half of water polo is trying to drown the opponents without getting caught. Seriously! One thing to do is wrap your legs around the opponents waist then stand up. This immediately pulls them under water while you look innocent af with your hands out of the water. And there are many more tactics, such as splashing a lot so the officials cant see you foul someone. Anyway, even though I was a great swimmer, I sucked at water polo because I was too skinny and non-aggressive. The good water polo players were beasts. Forty percent is swimming athleticism. Only 10% is skill of throwing a grippy ball in a huge goal. Non-water polo players would be drowning the entire match. If we had legit normies playing water polo against an Olympic team, all we’d see is the lifeguard jumping in to rescue normies until the normie team forfeits.
I’m not kidding. Anyone else here that has played water polo, back me up here.
Unplug it
What is “bang my bully”?
It would be cool if you could make your own tabs, so that everytime you subscribe to a community, you can go down a checklist of tabs you created, picking ones you think that belongs to.
Fo now, I guess the work around is to have several usernames divided by categories, but that seems cumbersome and disjonted.
I like Lemmy especially because it has not gone mainstream. I was already disliking Reddit around 2016/7 and tried to find alternatives, but nothing was good enough for me. Around 2018/9, the porn subs got pretty popular, then WallStreetBets. That brought on a massive amount of users, and the Reddit I joined in 2011 was definitely gone.
It used to be interesting, unique, and respectful. It became repetitive, predictably standard, and rude. Many subs function as low-key advertising or propaganda without users awareness. It was a hive mind. I was wanting to leave, and luckily the API fiasco happened so that I was able to find a new place.
I like it small like it is now. Users feel more familiar. Also, I love the idea of instances. If one instance has a shitty community on a topic you like, then find a community on a different instance. There’s none of that BS where mods control an entire topic. Maybe there are a lot of topics that aren’t popular here, so that sucks. Still, it’s no worse than reddit with 1+ million people all saying the same crap I don’t vibe with on a topic.
If it gets too much publicity, it may catch the eye of a regulation agency that could start an investigation, especially if he pisses someone off, and that person makes an anonymous tip to a 3-letter agency as revenge.
The creator must be shitting his pants with the publicity this gane is getting. Someone that makes a game like that is surely trying to exploit opportunities. They have to be doing something illegal, whether that be illegal business practices or avoiding taxes.
So did Lenin, and look how that turned out.
dracarys 🔥🔥🔥
Every single corporation is doing what they’re legally bound to do: increase profits for shareholders. Companies don’t and never have cared about the customer. They care about a customer as much as you care about an NPC. What’s with people thinking that they ever cared??
Of course MS is using that data. Why wouldn’t they?? Would they lose customers if people found out? Nope. If you were in charge of making that decision, you would use that data too. And if you’re too held to your privacy morals, you’ll never be in that position at MS because they only place people that will decide to maximize profits.
Here’s how you know a company is doing something: Would it make them more money? Then theyre doing it. That’s it.
Also, it’s MICROSOFT!! lol Not Mozilla, RedHat, Canonical, or the Linux Foundation. Remember when someone shoved a pie in Bill Gates face?
