Yeah that’s the one it’s quite easy to set up and test. I haven’t had any issues like that so definitely give it a shot.

Glad to hear! You can add on top of that https://github.com/galister/wlx-overlay-s to be able to control your desktop among other things.
Check out Envision which uses Monado to replace SteamVR. It’s a lot smoother for me but requires some extra setup.
I did a quick test with the latest Proton when it came out and everything look fine.
It ended up being a bad call but at the time Android only had 2 years in the market and trusting the leading OS company to manufacture a proper mobile product wasn’t a crazy idea. Microsoft just completely mismanaged the whole phone thing and took down Nokia with it.
If I remember correctly the approach was so anti-google that you couldn’t even watch youtube on Windows Phones.
I wonder if this is why my monitor’s brightness was acting up and dimming by itself. I just thought it was time to upgrade the monitor. Haven’t seen the issue in a few days so maybe it’s fixed.
I remember setting up a TeamSpeak server back in 2012 before Discord took over. Worked for us at the time.
EndeavorOS with KDE is basically steamOS without restrictions. I’ve been running it fine for years.
I wonder what they fixed for Helldivers 2. All the bugs I’ve experienced happen to Windows users too.
There is no advantage to games and average applications preferring Wayland over X11 – only severe performance and unusability regressions right now. Thus, we must revert this change until fifo-v1 and commit-timing-v1 are released and at least in a stable release for major compositors."
Does this mean I’ve been getting reduced performance for using Wayland when playing games? I haven’t noticed any difference but I haven’t been benchmarking.
Yes as far as I know you need special clients for now. I’ve been using discord-screenaudio for a year or so and it works on Wayland. Also with the latest update of Webcord I’ve been able to stream with audio but friends are saying that it doesn’t sound as good.
Other than showing the xdg-portal popup when sharing your screen the experience is essentially the same as the Discord app.
Yes it is preserved.
Not sure about this specific issue but whenever I had issues with EA games in the past I would nuke the compatdata for the game and that usually fixed it. Make sure to back up your save file if you do that.
I switched to Wayland to get discord streaming with audio working but now Steam remote play has issues capturing some windows unless I open Steam with the -pipewire option. Other than these issues with video streaming it’s been almost the same ir better than x11 on my AMD machine.
I actually had to switch to Wayland to be able to stream with audio on Discord.
So the main takeaway is that you no longer need to be offline if 2 family members want to play at the same time as long as they’re playing different games.
That’s fair and it should alleviate a bunch of headaches.
It would’ve been funny if it was full of infill.
Was hoping to see how it looks inside.
It definitely works if you are willing to tinker but we are a low priority and anything that breaks takes a long time to fix. There’s even another project called Envision which runs better than SteamVR but isn’t as easy to use yet.
