I think that’s the joke, especially since the alt text asks about getting melted copper off the carpet.

Opensource@programming.dev•Adafruit: Arduino’s Rules [New ToS] Are ‘Incompatible With Open Source’
3·9 months agoIntel kinda did for a while there, though they’re recovering. (Completely lost corporate direction led to the share price halving)
I kept reading it as NFT-able firewalls and could not for the life of me figure out what that would entail.
My wife had a labmate in grad school submit a paper on a comedy robot, and a reviewer noted “the authors mention humor several times but never define the concept.”

I feel very confident in my understanding of random 8 bit CPUs and their support chips, but asking me to center a div is like this xkcd.
SSNs are not reissued after death and never have been. I’ve been seeing a lot of people comment this, but I’m not sure where they’re getting it from. (They’re not unique for other reasons, however.)

Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube shorts disproportionately promotes alt-right content according to this experimentEnglish
8·2 years agoJust scrolling through shorts on a given day, I’m usually recommended at least one short by someone infamously hostile to the LGBTQIA+ community. I get that it could be from people with my interests hate-watching, but I don’t want to be shown any of it. (Nearly all of my YouTube subscriptions are to LGBTQIA+ creators. I’m not subscribed to anyone who has ever even mentioned support for right leaning policies on anything.)

Technology@lemmy.ml•Google threatened tech influencers unless they ‘preferred’ the Pixel
10·2 years agoIn published media it’s getting really frustrating to find articles that seem like honest reviews. The NYT did an article on toaster recommendations and they praised one for having something like a 3 year warranty because “toasters aren’t known for their longevity.”

Technology@lemmy.ml•Intel Launches Arc A580: A $179 Graphics Card for 1080p Gaming
5·3 years agoTrue, but that’s still on the order of time that you may never reach the price difference in the lifespan of the GPU.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Intel Launches Arc A580: A $179 Graphics Card for 1080p Gaming
522·3 years agoIf my math is right, the 50W difference, at my power rate of $0.15/kWh, will take 2666 hours and 40 minutes to make up the $20 difference in price.

My prior city ran a survey on whether they should build out fiber to the homes around the city, since they were building their own fiber infrastructure anyway. Despite the city saying it would be cheaper and faster than the existing 0 or 1 options people had, my fellow residents cried communism and the city government scrapped the idea. Infuriating.
