It’s because it isn’t worth it, for me, to discuss it with you. Have a nice day.
This was the 80s, my guy
It is more like 0 and then 0+1.
Yeah, same with my dad. Since he had enlisted he had gotten a masters, so they wanted to make him an officer, starting at some decent rank. However they wanted him to continue on with the types of locations he was being stationed at. He did a lot of work on test, and spy, aircraft, and did all that consulting travel. So they kept putting him in basically the middle of nowhere, but locations that either had a lot of traffic for things like spy aircraft, or they were geographically kinda centered, to travel between a number of locations, to work at, with that place being home base. He said he would do it if they sent him back to Vegas, or put him in Hawaii, or Edwards in southern California, or one of the major spots in Virginia, something other than arctic outposts, and a super rural areas. At the time we were stationed at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho… He hated it. But no, they wanted him to stay there for a few years, then get moved a rather remote location in the midwest. So he retired after 22 years.
Yeah, my dad eventually found himself as an E-9 in the USAF. He spent the latter portion of his career, which was jet engine mechanic, originally, going to different NATO countries and training people on equipment they were buying from the US, consulting them on opening, and operating, engine rooms, and hangars, and implementation of these roles in bases on foreign land, and in FOB situations. He said it was hard not to suffer imposter syndrome when you are routinely in board rooms filled with top brass, from around the world, and they are listening TO YOU. It stressed him out, a lot.
Well if they did it faster, it did eventually get removed.
Sorry, but if traditional news media loses much more ground to “alternative fact” land, and other reasons for decline vs the new media, I have zero faith they won’t just give in and go with it. I mean, if they are gonna fail anyway, why not at least see if they can get themselves a slice of that pie.
Yeah photo editing software, and AI, can be used to create images from different points of view, mimicking different styles, and qualities, of different equipment, and make adjustments for continuity from perspective, to perspective. Unless we have way for something, like AI, to be able to identify fabricated images, using some sort of encoding fingerprint, or something, it won’t be forever until they are completely indiscernible from the genuine article. You would have to be able to prove a negative, that the person who claims to have taken the photo could not have, in order to do so. This, as we know, is far more difficult than current discretionary methods.
Just have read numerous articles talking with him, or about him, he is always this way, and when I come across articles talking about him with his workers, or from their perspective, they say they don’t like him, or dance around calling him and asshole. I have also seen screenshots of his social media showing him acting like an ass, and the general discussion accompanying them is that he is arrogant, egotistical, etc.
I couldn’t point you to a specific place at this point, as I don’t remember the news specifically, just the general information. However I don’t imagine that it would take hours of digging to find it.
Carl is well known to be a smug, condescending, prick
This will never happen. We might get some of the issues more regulated, and people may move away from others, but you can’t put the Furies back into the box. Things will change, but we will never have the early internet again.
When I first got on Lemmy I signed up for a small instance my friend was on. Mostly ended up lurking. Before ditching that account, because I forgot the password, and was looking to go to a different instance anyway, I looked up what instances had the most federations. world had a lot, and no hexbear. It also has a old style interface, and blocks NSFW content, so I can more safely browse in public/at work. So I switched to it with my main and then separately logged into places with open NSFW content.
While it isn’t great, because one of the biggest issues with social media is the users, its design, and philosophy, are way ahead. Welcome.
You really think kids use consoles, to access social media, more than phones, and tablets?
He is banning his employees from using them at work.
A way I have found to explain federated social media to people, that seems to work is this: Imagine reddit, but instead of one company, with one administration, owning the whole site, it is a bunch of different reddits, that are independently run, that choose which other reddits they wish to associate themselves with. When you log into one instance, you automatically can see, and interact with, all the other ones that one chooses to associate with. You can have accounts on as many instances as you would like, even having accounts on instances that do no associate with each other.
Sorry it’s very rare to cause the least of the issues on that list, must mean they don’t have a point.
Oh, flying ferry is a nick name for hydrofoil, not an actual aircraft.
