Well, they are basically pointers when you’re decompiling assembly. It’s easier to think of them that way.

I just code in Notepad++. I make an error, I fix it. It doesn’t work, I just dump variables to see what I did wrong and where.

I remember using Notepad for a long time for coding in Windows. Then I was introduced to UltraEdit. It was cool, but expensive. Jumped onto NotePad++ and I’ve been enjoying it lots.
I do also use IDEs, usually Codium based.
