You know how people often assume someone is trolling, simply because their account is new?
Another reason would be to not have a billion dead accounts on servers.

When I first considered signing up (I think it was on Mastodon), I was told how very easy it would be to move from one instance to another so it wouldn’t matter where I sign up - so I chose the first server that caught my eye. It was also implied that I’d need exactly one login for the entire Fediverse.
In hindsight, I’m okay with this not being true but it was a disappointment. At least moving servers (while taking your history with you) should be a lot easier if we’re trying to avoid big instances becoming bigger.
will start on Sunday, January 19
“Starting on Sunday we won’t hate you as much anymore. Until then, fuck you.”

“The fear of being defamed as an antisemite or Israel-hater by Bild reverberates through politics, reaching the highest echelons,”
It is impossible in Germany to voice anything even resembling critique of Israel’s government.
supposedly left-wing publications like Die Tageszeitung
I can’t find the article in question by the taz but in any case they are (now) firmly on the side of condemning the genocide. Yes, I’m miffed at the implication on behalf of a newspaper, I know it’s silly.
Keep those pesky Luigis away
Excuse you?
Seconded. Ideally this would sync with any mobile devices because I am incapable of self-control and putting my phone where I can’t reach it. I might even (gasp) pay for the privilege.
“I would have made this amount of money if you hadn’t interfered, maliciously. I lost profit because of you.” Nothing to do with morals.
But how does that statement contribute to anything?
I pay $100/month for internet access.
Which you’d also pay if you used Honey.
Lemmy may be free to access, but certainly not free to host. Am I paying for it personally? No, but someone is.
You also wouldn’t have paid to use Honey.
You also don’t see Lemmy paying hundreds of YouTubers and influencers for ad spots.
That one, that’s a valid argument.
“Over” my ass…
It does seem awfully like you’re implying a connection to the topic at hand.
Wot? Perplexity ai, that app that I have on my phone and that I sometimes ask random things when I want to be angry at something and that gives entirely useless and wrong answers 95% of the time? lollmaoeven
Rimworld loading add-ons and then a wall of red text.
Tea is an inefficient delivery system for caffeine. If there’s no caffeine in it, it’s a warm beverage that relaxes you. So why would the industrious German worker bee want to bother with tea bags when coffee is right there? Unless of course the bee is sick and needs to relax, doctor’s orders, to get back to work as soon as possible. ;)
My husband is Northern German, close enough to England that he was horrified at the thought of making tea in the microwave. And he doesn’t even really drink tea when he’s not sick.
If you wish to ask websites to respect your privacy, you can use the “Tell websites not to sell or share my data” setting. This option is built on top of the Global Privacy Control (GPC). GPC is respected by increasing numbers of sites and enforced with legislation in some regions.
So is the difference that DNT was asking for no tracking at all while this GPC setting allows for tracking data to be created but not forwarded to third parties? That seems reasonable, not all “tracking” is malicious. Though I wonder why, if DNT isn’t respected, any other vaguely similar setting would be.
And? CEOs seem to be welcome there.
You’re not notified on Bluesky but since the information is public, there are services that let you look up if you’re on a list (clearsky.app is the most popular one - it might be the only one for now? idklol).
I speak languages that differentiate between “t” and “d”.
