Me personally, I’d get a burner smartphone in a drawer just for banking that is on airplane mode 24/7 except when I need it for banking and use a dumbphone for everything else. Also, I run linux and I have strict control over my router and I have ZERO subscriptions and creditcards. It’s not much but it’s something. Beats blindly rimming apple and alphabet.

This mentality is so gross. “Well might as well roll over and get pounded in the A by big corpo! what else am I going to do, right? Hehe!”

You don’t need passkeys if you don’t have anything important to steal, or any accounts on anything you would feel sad to lose. Just cancel all your subscriptions and sail the high seas! Nobody likes you anyway!

11·7 days agoThat’s a lie, you simply run “sysinst” and select “install pkgin” from a curses menu. sysinst can also help you setup a wifi connection and other basic user config things from the comfort of a TUI. But good job in trying to scare people of from trying a good alternative OS.

91·8 days agoI’d stick to Codeberg. I have no problem open-sourcing large portions of my work in return for a few private repos, and I don’t use much of their disk-space either.
Please just stop using a service when it gets unbearable. There is no online service you -need- except maybe bank and tax stuff.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linus Torvalds Working On A Hefty Linux Kernel Improvement With Claude Code
21·9 days agoI personally -do- think copyright shouldn’t exist. But it does (for Marvel or whatever), but not for GPL licensed projects once it is encoded in a matrix, and that’s pretty messed up. “Loki is a copyrighted Marvel character, I can’t create a new, full-length story using him as the main character.”, Yet if I ask it to write a text editor based on GNU Emacs it has very little problem doing so (edit: and technically failing, but still).
The linux kernel is compromised. Lets use NetBSD!

A better tomorrow starts with YOU.
