  • They just display a tiny bit of text and images, they should switch between screens at 60fps, not 2s per click.

I think this is intentional. They want you to take time looking at the pictures so you might think “you know what, actually I’d like some of those fries as well” by making it hard to just quickly select what you want and leave.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if there’s a psychological effect where you feel like ordering more makes this tedious ordering process more worthy. I mean why go through 2 minutes of clicking and waiting just for one stupid cheeseburger.

  • My parents used to keep chickens in their garden. They could roam in the garden freely during the day, the coop was only closed at night to keep predators out. One day a chicken decided it would like to check out the roof of the house across the street. Now my parents’ house is at a hillside so the neighbor’s house was quite a bit lower but the chicken still had fly at least 3m up and probably almost 10m across the street. It sat there for quite a while and we were a bit worried it wouldn’t dare to fly back down but eventually it did. Chickens are funny.

  • Yeah, it really is a shame. Apart from the battery it’s a really nice phone, but the battery issue completely ruins the experience. I’m going to replace mine as soon as my current contract ends in July so I can get a good deal for a device with a new plan. I even dropped it and shattered the screen back in October but didn’t bother to have it repaired because I didn’t want to put more money into this device. I’m annoyed by the cracks every single day, but it just feels too wrong to pay more money for it. I’ll be so happy when I finally have a new phone.

Looks like the Pixel 8 would be a good option. I don’t think I can wait until the Pixel 9 comes out. I’m also keeping an eye on the Pixel Fold 2, hope it’ll be released in May.

  • In Europe, the chocolate bar “Twix” was called “Raider” until the 1990s or so. When they changed the name, they ran a famous ad campaign with the slogan “Raider is now called Twix!” which is still not only remembered but even became an ironic saying (at least in Germany) for when things (try to make it) seem like they change but they actually stay the same.

So… Twitter is now obviously called Twix for me.
