For me it wasn’t just “an app”. Your launcher defines your entire phone experience. I had used Nova for so long and tweaked it juuust the way I liked it. To me, that was my phone. It was daunting to try and switch.

Used Nova for close to ten years. Switched last year to Kvaesitso.
I recommend everyone still using Nova to look into options and switch. It’s not as scary as it seems.

I don’t think it’s a here or there problem, I think it’s a human nature problem tbh.
Honestly this is the simple answer. My partner and I needed to access the same files often enough that we started using a NAS before I even got into self hosting. In fact, really, the NAS was my gateway drug haha.

How would you improve Tailscale?
Is this compatible with Windows 10, which OP said their laptop will be running?

Yes, I usually do that after I check all the services are running okay.

Not running anything that I’ve had to alter compose files. Also never had change nginx configs. Maybe I’m just running particularly stable stuff.
I usually read update notes yes, but I’d be lying if I said I was always thorough.

Whoops, I forgot that the alias includes a pull for the latest versions.

cd appname && dockup && cd ..
Dockup being an alias for docker compose pull && docker compose up -d
Repeat for the few services I have.

Question… I often see rack mounted servers with those small Ethernet patch cables running between two adjacent devices, like you have there. I’ve always assumed one of the devices is a switch, but it’s never made sense to me why there’s so many connections between those two.
What are those devices, and why so many connections between them? Like, as far as I can tell, in one instance you have a cable running from the top device to a small switch resting on top, which then runs from the switch to the lower device… Despite all of the other Ethernet running directly from the top to the bottom. What is going on here??

I host everything on a single server. This is generally advised against, because if it goes down then you lose access to all services, but it hasn’t been a problem for me yet.
I use Unraid, with one parity drive. This provides me with comfort against single drives failures.
I then have backup scripts which backup any data I think is important to an external HDD connected to the server. This provides me with extra comfort against single drive failures, and the comfort that if the server went down, I can relatively easily plug the external into another machine and restore some essential services.
I also then have automatic backups of those backups to a cloud provider. This provides me with the comfort that if anything is stolen, damaged, lost in a fire, etc, I still have all my most important data available.

Can confirm, when this happens my requests from desktop are not getting to pi-hole. Works from my phone without issue.

No, the DNS calls do not show up in pi-hole log when it’s not reaching destination. If I do it from my phone, which works fine and has never not resolved for me, they show up on pi-hole as expected.

There’s a lot in there and I’m not seeing any errors related to NetworkManager.

There is only one IP4 DNS address, however there are two IP6 DNS addresses for my ethernet interface. However, I also notice that the GENERAL.CON-PATH ends in 2, whereas I have another interface lo which ends in 1. Would that be a clue of anything?
Unfortunately Homepage only works with ical, for those of us using a caldav server. 😭

Thank you for the suggestion, I will check these next time.
You could auto download channels with YouTube-DL, which can sort them automatically into folders that Jellyfin is pointed to as a YT Kids library, then make the kids an account that can only access that Jellyfin library.
