Cybersecurity professional here, I’d read up on Kia’s responsible disclosure policy, to avoid any potential trouble, and for guidelines on how to disclose it to them and handle this ethically.
https://www.kia.com/eu/vulnerability-disclosure/
Unfortunately they don’t do bug bounties, which is too bad.
Edit: I wouldn’t listen to people telling you to lock the car, exploit it in other ways or disclosing it to the media first. That is unethical at best and illegal at worst.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Paying for software is stupid… 10 free and open-source SaaS replacements
92·1 year agoIt’s just clickbait, which is unavoidable on youtube if you want your video to be seen by more than 5 people. I don’t blame the creator for it tbh, especially because this title is not really misleading, just an opinion.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Today I'm grateful I'm using Linux - Global IT issues caused by Crowdstrike update causes BSOD on Windows
171·1 year agoWhile that is true, it makes sense for antivirus/edr software to run in kernelspace. This is a fuck-up of a giant company that sells very expensive software. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment, but I mostly see this as a cautionary tale against putting excessive trust and power in the hands of one organization/company.
Imagine if this was actually malicious instead of the product of incompetence, and the update instead ran ransomware.

World News@lemmy.ml•Party of Dutch anti-Islam populist Wilders to win most seats: Exit poll
1·2 years agoSounds scarier than it is. They still need a majority, and no other party will join them in their most extreme plans. We also have laws that protect against stuff like this.

World News@lemmy.ml•Party of Dutch anti-Islam populist Wilders to win most seats: Exit poll
1·2 years agoThe previous government disbanded over immigration, and Geert Wilders’ message of “kick out all immigrants” sadly seemed to resonate well with people. He is also pretty good at tv debates, which is where I think he convinced the very large amount of floating voters this election.

3·2 years agoInteresting read! And the way they use DnD classes is very fun to me. They did the bard dirty though haha.

Tbh firefox performs great and works for me, and its issues can be fixed with extensions and settings, both on desktop and mobile. I never looked for anything else myself. I also like to use a browser that is not chromium-based, I do not want google to have the monopoly.
maybe I am just not picky, but if you need more privacy than what can be achieved with a hardened firefox config you might be better off using TOR at that point.
