21·1 month agowell i suppose it depends on how deep your personal security goes. are your passwords stored on your device? are they stored securely? do you have a password manager? do you have a standalone app for your password manager and not a browser extension? is the master password for your password manager stored on any of your devices? do you have any settings that automatically locks your PC upon inactivity? is the pin for your PC related to you personally in any way? i get what you’re saying because at the end of the day physical access IS pretty hard to mitigate. but you’d be surprised how far simple steps can take you.

16·2 months agothis is yet another fork in the road for all the “Apple better than Google Apple more private” people. will you move the goalposts again or will you finally admit you just think everything is pretty and don’t actually care about security?
(Google is also bad btw. they both are, in fact for the same reasons. believe it or not, ALL billion dollar corporations only see you as a walking bag of money. no matter what their marketing or privacy policy says)

7·2 months agothere isn’t nearly enough of a strong reaction against this, and i can’t say i don’t understand why. techbros thrive on influencers justifying enshittification to it’s users so why wouldn’t that trickle down to open source communities built specifically to spite those same tech bros? i guess i just expected these kinds of people to have more integrity, and be able to tell when a fox is in sheeps clothing. but tech is pretty much nothing if not jumping into the arms of fascism first.

21·2 months agoi mean there’s a lot to be said about using GenAI period, even more to be said about this specific usecase of it. but also, is that not the point of diets? if they aren’t strictly medical it’s just an eating disorder. people who starve themselves to be skinnier are also going “well i think you should at least try to be healthy.” u can demonise whatever trendy collection of molecules makes u fat this month all u want, spending so much energy on how much body fat you have isn’t healthy at all.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘Devastating blow’: Atlassian lays off 1,600 workers ahead of AI pushEnglish
22·2 months ago“AI is too dumb to take our jobs” as if that matters. that’s not even the point, the point of Generative AI is to mine data and devalue human labour. according to the like 120 people who run this world too many people are making too much money so now we have a dogshit “technology” made to cut your wages whenever it’s convenient.
Take an imperalist society ran by pedophiles and give it infinite power. gooners are a product of that.
