almost every project that makes GNU/Linux what it is has some issues: things that can be improved, things that could have been done better, legacy code, vision conflicts… it’s the cost of being made from several single projects merged together still such a unique and important option in this world where users only matter for their money and data

basic daydreams@feddit.clto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Why does Signal want a phone number to register if it's supposedly privacy first?131·2 months agoas I see it, Signal tried to fit that privacy gap for a standard centralised messenger, if you think about it, that might have made it easier to non-tech-savvy people to adopt it (even if it was as a request from a contact), decentralisation is not remotely appealing to them
it’s also supported by Homebrew Package Manager so you can use command line shells outside containers without layering if you want to
kinda looks like those backgrounds Microsoft uses on their mobile apps pictures on the App Store and Google Play
