When I think “AI will end humanity” I was thinking a sort of Skynet type deal, not… this. Sigh.

I wish more people knew what Run… did, but the Ctrl + v should be a little more obvious. We need to teach more computer literacy if you don’t immediately know that means you’re copying text to something.
Especially on a shady site, mind you. But then again, this could be on a phishing email, so that’s not always the case I guess. (I got one from “STARBUCKS” that Gmail didn’t catch, their spam filter has been shit lately, blocking my work emails but letting through a lot of sus stuff).
I mean, it’s been here for beta years and yes, it is absolutely fantastic. The one year penalty keeps me from handing it out like candy to extended family and friends (plus we all have that cousin who can’t be trusted) while I can let my wife and kids play games on my account without them kicking me out of mine.
The parental controls are good too, although I’m not using them yet since my kids are too young to really pick their games from the library themselves.
My thought… When GPT was new, I was quite invested and it worked pretty well. That was what, almost two years ago? I’ve found it just being easier and more reliable learning stuff myself and writing my own paragraphs. I wonder if normies are still in that honeymoon phase.
At some point, the false answers and predictable, soulless responses catch up to you. In a world that’s over reliant on boilerplate AI text, a personalized email with as little sass goes a long way.
Can confirm. Wife got a fancy AI tool from corporate and it’s only delayed her work (which is mostly in excel). Lots of false equations and bad advice. So she comes to me and I give her a simple, no frills formula and solve the problem in 5 to 15 minutes.
Oh and of course they’re removing their RTO initiatives soon and adding another day of mandatory in office. Mind you, free lunch isn’t the pull they think it is for my wife, although if I’m being honest, if it’s me … Well, I do have a thing for free catering. Not 1 hr+ commute, but I’ll bike for an hour for free food (and coffee).
This means my car will be cheaper, right?
…right?
A good AI summary would tell you the benchmark scores and general pricing, but yes, it’s better to go to UserBenchmark anyway— especially since the whole ploy from search is to keep you from going there, robbing the original source of it’s ad revenue.
No no, that has considerably less offensive content.
I mean at this point that’s my first thought when I think organized religion, so yeah, not shocking. Expected, even.
I mean, if it was any other ally surrounded by countries that hate them, I’d understand this policy. If Israel wasn’t lead by a dickhead and their regime, I’d understand this policy. They literally only exist as a country with our support.
But as is stands now, it’s a carrot we should use to leverage peace and, in an ideal world, push for a better coexistence with people they’ve historically shit on. Giving it away for ‘free’ makes little sense aside from fear of losing their support and by extension, the election.
If we didn’t have foreign money, or PACs in general, would this be different? I would imagine it would be, if we could just fix that shitty system.
Sure, once I decide on a more permanent distro. Manjaro was ok but I keep hearing bad things and it was a gaming partition, not an all purpose partition. I’m sure lurking in Linux communities will give me some ideas, though.
The setup, mostly. I know I can VM my mandatory work programs, at least. Dual boot has been too frustrating since Windows won’t play ball.
Oh no. They really want me swapping to Linux full time with this shit, ugh.
My dad does this, and I made a few bucks thanks to WordPress. Really, more thanks to Elementor because you can make a pretty snazzy website for cheap and the layman has no it took 2 hours to put together with templates. Lol
Makes me curious if you get more attention on mastodon though. Like if I pitched something on Lemmy there’s a good chance I get the same number of eye balls compared to Reddit, not counting ads. (Although if Kamala posted about Linux and/or Star Trek that’s front page, no ad money needed! Lol)
No worries, I wish it had pancake lenses too but at least it’s not as bad as the vive. No screen door effect, but yes to the sweet spot thing. There’s a few other things going for the index, like those cool speaker headphones, but yeah… 5 years old, I guess valve is getting distracted by it’s steam deck success.
I haven’t looked into it, but I think there might be a mod to make it wireless now, too, but I haven’t looked into it since having kids. No time for VR when you have self destructive little ones existing in your vicinity.
For me, it’s actually the FOV, it covers more ground (130 degree vs 110). Going back to less FOV sucks. It’s also perfectly fine for clarity and frame rate, although I’d like an index 2 for sure. I’ve heard it also tracks better although I’ve never noticed the difference (I only used quest 3 at other homes).
Still surprised it’s been 5 years, though. But it’s not about what tech is available so much as the priorities valve put into their headset. They wanted it to be comfortable for a long play sessions. Just wish it wasn’t tethered, but it’s probably another reason why it still out performs in things like stability.
I couldn’t go back after using the Valve Index, though. Wireless or not, it’s too much of a compromise on quality.
Edit: sleepy typo
I had to update my LG recently and it had to get approval for all sorts of weird shit. Oddly enough, it let me continue using just about everything even after I denied all the very invasive checkboxes. I guess even they can’t deny use of your own tv if you reject the agreement lol
