I don’t even want the slide mechanism, just the keyboard. Blackberry keytwo is the greatest phone / form factor of recent years imo

Yeh,i had the titan for around a year and a half. It was a decent piece of hardware with a keyboard that was fairly decent (not as good as blackberry still).
The problem with them is the software and support. The keyboards just about work but aren’t integrated into the whole experience like you got with a blackberry. It always felt a bit awkward and some choices were just weird, as if the programmers never tried actually using what they programmed.
I tried to put a custom ROM on mine but could never get the boot loader to unlock as it should have so ultimately I gave up as the positives for me of having a keyboard were being outweighed by the jank
There have been plenty, some that have come to fruition. The first and only thing I have ever back was the planet computers “Astro Slide”, I will never participate in crowd funding again after that fucking shit show.
At the end of the day though they don’t usually attract enough backers to really make a decent product out if it, which is a shame.
I mean, the 6a still has 3 years of support left so whilst it is older it is hardly at the end of its supported life.
Not everyone can change a battery in a phone, I can but I would still rather not do it on a phone that isn’t really anything special and whilst yes they could feasibly last that long I think in practical everyday use application by the time you are getting to three years of daily use it will be beaten up and physically not in great shape any more for your average user.
What relevance does that have to what I said? If the physical phone isn’t going to last that long then I’d argue it is of little importance.
These devices aren’t even constructed to last 7 years. I don’t see that either of those things are worth £600 personally.
Fuck all that noise, Pixel 6a + graphene £130. Why waste so much money!?
I couldn’t tell you. The page / list was made for graphene and I don’t know the technical differences between running that and lineage + micro g so not sure if the same list could apply. Sorry.
Yeah i understand what you are saying and that is why everyone’s individual needs come into play.
I don’t know what country you are in and that can obviously affect things, my banks 2FA is an SMS. I have options in terms of the other things you mentioned, where as you may not have.
For people looking to change and are worried about banks bullshit here is a link to a list of currently supported bank apps.
“Making day to day life functionally impossible” is a bit drastic. I think that depends on each individual person, their needs both in terms of banking and privacy.
My banking app doesn’t work on Graphene but I also couldn’t care less. I can just as easily log in to my account via my browser on my phone if I need to do something and it isn’t exactly hard, it takes all of 30 seconds more than using an app.
I realise in some other countries you don’t have that option but were I in the same situation for me that would be enough to change banks, I don’t want to be forced to use an app for anything.
Everyone has different lengths they are willing to go to to protect their privacy and I’m willing to make my life slightly harder where as others may not but I think saying it makes life functionally impossible is a bit of an overstatement and it needs to be judged based on individual needs.
There is a list of what banking apps work and what don’t.I’ll post it in a top level comment for visibility.
I too ran a unihertz titan for a few years, massive beast of a thing but I love a keyboard. Before that I had the blackberry keytwo which was my favourite phone of all time.
I backed the planet computers astroslide before they took everyone’s money and ran after delivering a fraction of the units promised and what was delivered was woefully out of date due to their ineptitude.
I still dream of a blackberry key three, but alas my dreams will never be fulfilled and I’m trapped on a shitty touch screen :'(
I’ve been playing New Vegas recently, I’m on the penultimate DLC now having just the final quest left in the main game. It has been a really enjoyable play through (the first time the game has stuck for me despite trying three times before) and I’m still enjoying it although I am looking forward to finishing it all and playing something new again after 90 hours.
Hope you enjoy!
I’ve switched over to Fennec on android and liking it so far. Last updated 4 days ago on f-droid.
I really like sievet a lot and would recommend it but it seems like or is getting worse with each iterarion.
I also cant stand early access bullshit so I recommend pirating a slghtly older version!
Thanks for the recommendation :D
Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll check it out!
Fair enough, research time for me! Thanks for the reply
Any recommendations of a good alternative on android? I’m thinking I’ll move to librewolf on desktop but they don’t appear to have an android version.
There is a project that repurposes a blackberry keyboard to make a detachable android keyboard that I have saved somewhere. Phones are too big as it is however and adding that on, plus the cost being about 50% again over what I spent on the actual phone I’m not super keen on that.
I just want a blackberry key three xD
