You’re completely right, but it’s also highlighted when people on the internet discuss things they know nothing about but decide to become very sarcastic against “the other side.”
smug superiority indeed. many examples in this very thread.

and much more… centralized? But let’s also just ignore the part where it’s described as generally more secure as well.
Does that occur more happen than abusers who don’t care if they are? I don’t know anyone from LTT personally, but I don’t necessarily get the feeling that Linus doesn’t care. To your point, ignorance doesn’t excuse abuse, but I think it’s an important distinction to make regardless.
the idea of decentralized currency is great and has merit, but the most current iteration got hijacked by a bunch of con artists.
big +1 for Thunder. I love Sync so far and paid the one-time no ads option, but I understand why others wouldn’t want to.
I completely understand, respect, and share your ideals however our current global circumstances are not favorable at all for those ideals. We can and will slowly change that, I’m sure of it, but at the same time people deserve to get paid for their work.
$20 to remove ads on an app I’ll probably use daily seems to be fair price, from my perspective. But the subscription rubs me the wrong way.
For those who don’t want to pay to remove ads, there’s always some pretty great open-source alternatives. Sync is the only app so far to truly care about foldable phones and I wanted to support the dev, so I paid to remove ads but I understand why others might be apprehensive.
This seems completely over-the-top when the person is literally trying to have a discussion about something that they have admitted to not knowing much about. “Attempts” is the terminology being used by the DDG app, which explains why OP is using the same wording.
This whole thread has a weird, defensive and “reinforce my purchase” type of vibe. LJDawson has been pretty transparent about this and has worked hard on the app, so I sorta get it, but come on.
“In fact, misleading is putting it lightly.”
How about we all calm down before starting to throw personal accusations out there?
Seems more like you’re projecting a reality that isn’t the case. Moreso projecting a weird defensive attitude over a social media application when people are, understandably, concerned about their data privacy. I think we should keep this type of attitude over on the Reddit side.
embedded link to a setting? that’s pretty nice.
I was about to sign up until I saw Login with Google.
some here won’t like the idea of a premium, private search engine but Kagi is one of the best tech discoveries I’ve made in a long time. I pay $5/month for 300 searches and always seem to hit the limit at the very end of my month, never payed the 1.5 cents per search after that.
