As far as the sentiment itself… I think it’s clever, and I do think there’s some amount of truth to it, but I don’t think it holds true 100% of the time. I think it’s a reasonable default position, but every so often humans have unexpected intentions.

Everything we do is either for genetic evolution reasons or memetic evolution reasons. Gaining power serves both.

More likely the opposite. Everything is about power, except power. Power is about sex.
